In the news there was today a picture which brought to my mind, how much more hard work there seemed to be when computers were very elementary if existed at all. I remember my father's working place's contryside course center having had a computer of the size of two rooms and it could only list the same text hundreds of times and nothing more complex. It used scrolls of paper tape with holes in it. The papers were nice colourful and the holes quite random, results of measurements of forest growth.
